“You are a clever one aren’t you Tyrone” Tess said with a smirk. “You have guessed the big surprise the town has planned for you. I have heard that on December 25, all the people in town are planning on coming here to spend the day with you and have a big party to celebrate your arrival. In fact I think they are going to bring you  gifts to show how much they love you.”

Tyrone was thrilled. Imagine another huge party just for him! He must be the most loved Dinosaur in the whole world. And presents! They must be buying all those packages for him.

Tess smiled, quite pleased with herself. She could hardly wait until Christmas, because she was sure that when no one showed up for the big party that Tyrone would be crushed. And with any luck he would be so upset he would just walk right out of town and go somewhere else, never to return. Now that would be the perfect Christmas present for Tess, then all the visitors would give all their attention to her once again.

As Christmas drew closer and closer, Tyrone could barely contain his excitement. He talked to Tess everyday about the upcoming celebration in his honor, while she just smiled and told him that is was going to be the biggest party the town had ever had.

Christmas Eve morning arrived, and Tyrone noticed that the townsfolk were almost frantic in their preparations. He could smell wonderful smells coming out of homes. People were bustling in and out of shops with even more packages. Children were happily playing and singing. The excitement in town was incredible.

As the sun went down and night settled over the Valley, Tyrone watched all the decorations light up. When you are over 80 feet tall you can see a lot. It was beautiful. He just couldn’t believe his luck. All this for him!

Tess, too was very excited. She could hardly wait till morning, because she was sure that when no one showed up in the morning that would be the last she would see of that big lug of a dinosaur. Then things would get back to the way they should be.

As the two stood and watched over the town, the lights in the houses started going out. People were going to sleep. Most people still left on their outside lights and tree lights but everything else was dark. All was quiet. Tyrone had just shut his eyes to get some sleep himself, when he heard bells ringing and something went whooshing past him almost hitting his nose.
